8 MYTHS and MISCONCEPTIONS About Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Myths and misconceptions have riddled video games for as long as I can remember. You could go to space in Pokémon's third generation. If the Space Center guy's counter reached a hundred or some other number.

In Ocarina of Time, you had to assemble the Triforce. In Tomb Raider. If you entered a certain code, you could see Lara Croft- Anyway. None of these are true, and Animal Crossing isn't exempt from this.

, So here are 8 myths or misconceptions that people have had about Animal Crossing New Horizons.. This was mostly one that people believed towards the beginning of New Horizons'life, but sometimes I still see it lurking around comments.

Clapping or making Orville blush will increase your chances of getting a rare mystery tour island.. This is completely untrue and seems to be just confirmation, bias, sweeping the internet and some cleverly edited videos.

. There is nothing in the code that suggests reacting at Orville in any way will increase or decrease your chances of getting a rare island.. But if you do want to make the dodo feel good about himself before you set off on your journeys, then I'm sure.

He will appreciate it.. Only girl gamers play Animal Crossing.. This has been a misconception I have heard since I started playing the game back in Wild World.. Now, admittedly, I went to an all-girls school, so I probably began to believe this too.

, But I know plenty of people who don't identify as female who play the game., But that's, just experience.. Let's. Look at the facts, While yes, New Leaf and Pocket Camp had a higher percentage of female players.

New Horizons has balanced the scales just a bit.. Recently we have learned that Animal Crossing is one of the highest selling switch games of all time. At 22.4 million copies sold only losing out to Mario Kart 8 deluxe.

. The game has outsold every single PlayStation exclusive in its short time. It's. Crazy. Also notice how the Top 6 New Horizons videos are by men.. So no Animal Crossing is not just for girls. Something I've.

Seen a couple of times since Redd was added to the game, was that you can't buy from a Redd who has already sold an item.. This isn't true, but I think it's, just a misunderstanding of what Redd says.

Redd tells you he has to limit you to 1 piece of art a day.. This part is true, but if other people come to your island, they can buy the remaining stock 1 per person. So once it's, all gone, no one can buy from your Redd anymore.

. The limitation is that if YOU have bought an item from Redd, YOU can't then go to another island that has Redd and purchase something because he will know that you've already bought something.. It's.

An easy mistake to make, and I can see why there has been some misunderstanding. This next one is one I get in my comment. Sections a lot & quot. My game is glitched. One of my villagers is using another villager's.

Catchphrase & quot. This isn't a glitch.. This is an intended mechanic in the game.. This mechanic was also in New Leaf, so I can understand if newer players, weren't aware.. If you change a villager's catchphrase, there is a chance that other villagers will adopt it because they think it sounds cool.

Same as when you are approached by villagers, because they want to give you a nickname because they & # 39. Ve heard another villager call you it., Half of my island are currently calling me spud., Except with catchphrases.

They most likely won't. Ask they'll just take.. Occasionally you can see two villagers discussing it.. The only way to fix this is by going to Isabelle to get her to reset the catchphrase, but the only way I found for this to not happen at all is by not giving them custom catchphrases.

. Another thing that happened in previous games, but is now a myth in New Horizons, is villagers moving out without permission.. Occasionally, I see people joking about how if you haven't spoken to a villager in a couple of days, you'll, get a letter saying they've left.

. This is because in the older games, if you ignored a villager for too long, they would leave, and you'd, find out via letter.. This isn't true in New Horizons, so don't fear not playing for a couple of days and worrying that your favourite villager will move out.

Villagers in New Horizons cannot leave unless you give them permission to do so.. I guess Nintendo got fed up of us all crying because our favourite villagers would leave after not playing with them for 6 months.

. I'm sorry Poncho. On the topic of ignoring villagers. I have seen so many people recommending how to move a villager out by saying ignore them and fence them in. There are videos with this in and posts and comments all over the place.

. But this isn't. True., Ignoring your villagers does absolutely nothing to the friendship score.. It is a completely neutral act.. The only things that decrease friendship points is pushing them or hitting them with a net until they get upset.

Villagers moving out is based on an algorithm in the code which is supposed to work as the higher the friendship score, the lower the chance of them moving Out., If you have multiple people on your island, it will take the averages of each score.

. If you're like me, and have high friendship with practically all of your villagers, then this should make the move out chance random by this calculation.. So the best way to get rid of a villager without time travelling is to just never speak to them.

From the moment they've moved in thus not increasing the friendship score.. However, the most recent villager to move in won't. Ask to move out, and neither will any villager who has a birthday in the next 7 days.

. Likewise, if you & # 39, re determined to keep a villager and never have them ask to move out, keep their relocation house kit in your inventory.Villagers, who are having their houses relocated, can't ask to move out either.

. This is technically 2 myths in 1, but they're both to do with rocks.. There was a myth going around that. Only 3 rocks can spawn per acre. This isn't. True, all 6 can spawn in one acre. So if your rock garden design dreams include, this then have no fear it's possible.

Providing you have a valid spawn location for them.. The second was that rocks could be hiding behind buildings, trees or cliffs.. Again, not true rocks can't spawn 4 tiles behind a cliff tree or building meaning they should never be completely hidden from view.

, But you still might have trouble finding them though.. Finally, the last misconception is that the game is glitched, because you are having a meteor shower and Celeste hasn't shown up.. This isn't a glitch you likely are just lucky and are going to have or have had more than one meteor shower this week.

. Even if you only see one shooting star, this will count as a light. Meteor shower., I say see because it's not possible for you to only have one shooting star. They always fall in groups, but light meteor showers are far more sporadic when they fall.

Back to Celeste. The game picks a day at the start of the week for Celeste to show up. If you have a meteor shower coming up, it's more likely to pick a heavy one over a light one and she can't show up when K.

K. Slider is around. So if your meteor shower clashes with K.K., then you won't, see her.. So, just because you're having a meteor shower on a particular day, doesn't mean the cute little owl is gonna show up.

, And there you go. 8 myths or misconceptions that I've, seen hanging around the Internet for New Horizons debunked and answered for you with the latest information.. So if the game updates and changes any of these mechanics, please don't come for me.
